Abu Dhabi airport posts 9.2% rise in July traffic

ABU DHABI — The Abu Dhabi international airport reported 9.2 per cent increase in passenger traffic in July this year over the same month in the previous year.

“For the first time in the airport’s history, more than one million passengers travelled through the airport in any one single month,” the Abu Dhabi Airports Company (ADAC) said in a Press statement on Tuesday.

The airport also posted 10.1 per cent increase in aircraft movements and 12.3 per cent rise in cargo traffic. A total of 36,755 tons of cargo were transported through the airport.


The July results indicate that North America was the region witnessing the largest growthwith the passengers traffic growingby 76 per in July, followed by Southern Africa with a 27 per cent rise. Europe came in third place, up by 15 per cent. The traffic report revealed that the top five city destinations were London, Bangkok, Cairo, Manila, and Doha, together accounting for 19.1 per cent of all traffic movements.

“In July, we have celebrated our busiest month to date at the Abu Dhabi International Airport, and we look forward to celebrating many more milestones,” the statement said quoting Ahmed Al Haddabi, senior vice-president, airport operations at ADAC.
