Days after its debut in Dubai drew crowds stretching up to 500 metres, Primark is already gearing up for its next move in the UAE.
The Ireland-headquartered retailer, known globally for its affordable fashion, officially opened its first store at Dubai Mall on Thursday, March 26, marking its long-awaited entry into the region.
Now, a second store is on the way.
Where is the second store opening?
Primark will open its second UAE location at City Centre Mirdif on April 9 at 10 am, according to the brand’s official Instagram page.
This will be followed by a third store at Mall of the Emirates in May, as part of a wider rollout across Dubai.
The expansion comes under a partnership between Majid Al Futtaim and Alshaya Group, aimed at growing the brand’s footprint in the region.
Why is Primark such a big deal?
For many Europeans, Primark has long been a go-to for affordable clothing, accessories, beauty products and even homeware.
With more than 450 stores worldwide, the brand has built a reputation around low prices and trend-led pieces, often making it a first stop for budget-conscious shoppers abroad.
That familiarity is now translating into strong demand in the UAE.
Dubai Mall opening draws crowds
When the Dubai Mall store opened, it saw heavy footfall throughout the first week, with many visitors leaving carrying the brand’s signature brown paper bags.
What shoppers are saying
For some residents, the launch felt like a piece of Europe landing in Dubai.
“I have always loved Primark in the UK; it was my go-to whenever I travelled,” said Arwa Ahmed, a Dubai resident. “The prices, especially for makeup and basics, are really good.”
She added that her visit to the Dubai Mall store was “massive and crowded”, noting how “almost everyone was carrying a Primark bag”.
At the same time, she noticed subtle differences. “I can tell the difference, especially in the patterns. It feels more tailored to the Middle East customer.”
For others, it was their first-ever Primark experience.
“I’ve heard about it for years but never actually visited one,” Abeer A, another shopper, said. “I didn’t expect it to be this big. The prices are definitely lower than what you usually see in Dubai.”
What to expect next
With two more locations already confirmed, Primark’s rollout in Dubai is moving quickly.
If the Dubai Mall launch is any indication, the upcoming openings, especially in Mirdif, are likely to draw similar crowds.
