Got to have an open mind to appreciate creativity

The article: Creativity means you don't necessarily follow the rules (KT, Jan. 21) struck an instant chord with many readers, and the suggestions shared on how to nurture creativity are worth following. Creativity is an enigma, to say the least. It takes birth at various moments. It is rather hard to explain or justify it in words.
Creativity, more often than, cannot be accepted when the minds judging it are constrained by their own limitations. Creativity in the form of art and craft, written expression, performing arts, etc. are measured by pre-determined norms and criteria.
Only a few coaches and teachers are able to accept and go beyond the accepted set of rules and give credit to creativity that is spontaneous and unique to individuals.
Having an open mind is essential in motivating and preserving creative responses of individuals, such as students. In fact, constructive criticism could help fine tune creative outlet whereas rigidity with regard to rules can discourage creative spirits.
The parameters for measuring creativity of children should be looked into as it builds their confidence and inspires them to grow more creatively.
