Is fashion a necessity or a trend? A question that often troubles the mind, especially in these testing times. Until a few years ago, we would have debated it, but now in the era of influencers, Grammin' and more, one would say it's both. And fashion, as we know it, is changing, keeping our safety in mind. You can't and shouldn't step out without a mask, which, in turn, suggests if you can afford, why not support local businesses and stay stylish as well?
"As we know, in the UAE, it is required that we wear a mask when leaving our home, but we believe surgical masks should be reserved for our #healthcareheroes. This medical-grade equipment must be readily available for those on the front line, but you should still be able to be as safe as possible when out in public," share Kiki and Lulu, founders Mask Mee.
Mask Mee was developed in March 2020 to provide you with the best protection possible whilst also complimenting your outfit. "Through these current uncertain times, we wanted to be able to provide people with a fashionable solution that also protects and is suitable for exercise," they add. The masks are environmentally responsible and reusable with 29 designs for women and 5 for men to choose from. The masks also don't have elastic over the ears, which can be painful with prolonged use. Remember, it is a non-surgical grade form of protection from Covid-19 and other respiratory viruses. You can also insert your own chosen filter into the mask to increase its protection.
And no it isn't all just a fashion statement, for each mask sold, at the end of each month, they will donate a percentage of the proceeds to those in the community who need it most and have been affected by COVID-19.
