Why should schools change the time?

I was quite shocked to read the news on school timings (Parents suggest late start for schools in Dubai; KT, April 27). I wonder what change is it going to make if school timings change? Even if you leave early the roads are packed and traffic snarls are seen even on holidays. This is due to the trucks and vans, which are apparently more than the saloon vehicles. Also, I strongly feel parents should influence their children's lifestyle. We should be thankful for the good transport system provided by most schools here. I don't see any reason for a change in school timings. Perhaps, widening of roads could help. Or different time for vans and trucks would ease traffic congestion. How many vehicles can possibly be accommodated in a two-lane road?
I think parents who are concerned with less sleep should think of dropping their kids to school on their own, or use public transport such as the metro.
