Dubai roads have an immense rush due to school traffic. I have always wondered what can be done to reduce it? It is painful for parents, especially at pick up time a mad rush is seen outside schools that don't have ample parking space. And now as it will get hotter, parents will want the least walking distance for their kids. In the current scheme of things, it is simply a nightmare for all but it can be worked around if some intelligent design is put to address this issue! Carpooling, for instance, can help reduce the number of cars on the roads and reduce carbon footprint, too.
I suggest newspapers like yours should involve parents all over the UAE in this discussion as they are the primary stakeholders and sufferers. There are certainly challenges galore: parent comfort, for one, and also legal, regulatory and safety issues. But we can overcome all of these issues only if we put our minds to it.
