In connection with the news, ‘Lanka wants more of its skilled workers in UAE, (KT, Sept 20), I feel that all workers should be taught basic language skills, particularly Arabic and English.

I came across a painter who did not know how to identify colours. When I asked him for maroon, he gave me red. I think these things are basic.
