We have all heard it, and by we I mean the teens who are actually into gaming. “Video games are bad for you.” “It makes children violent” “It makes a negative influence on children”. However, as a gamer myself, I can say that video games do have its advantages.

According to recent studies, video games have proven to increase the logic capacity of a child along with boosting their decision making time. Children learn to think more practically and also make better decisions. Online multiplayer games also allow children to enhance the spirit of teamwork and leaderships.

Video games can also teach children history and about how the earth works.

As opposed to the typical gamer, who is considered to be a loner, modern gaming includes a more social environment than before.

Also, gaming can help a child gain motivation by being successful in challenges placed within game, and therefore helping him come over certain problems in the real world.

Although too much of gaming can be a little bad, video games do not deserve the treatment it gets from general media, parents and teachers, who seem to consider it a waste of time and bad for health. I consider video games are the scapegoat for this generation. Everyone believed that the TV or Radio was bad when it was invented. People just want something new so that they can call it bad.

Everyone should try to understand that video games are now a huge and well paying industry as well, so it is not a bad thing when you work in such an industry. It is in face one of the most successful industries of today.

I hope this letter comes to the attention of everyone who thinks in negative fashion of video games, and hope that this can at least make you think from a different perspective.
