The Swiss letter case

After all the hullabaloo that the apex court of Pakistan raised about writing the letter to Swiss authorities — one Prime Minister sent home and another compelled to write the letter as per the honourable court’s draft- — it has all resulted in a big naught.

Isn’t the Supreme Court of Pakistan expected to know all about court laws prevailing in other countries’ courts? That issues get time-barred is a most common in all courts of law and also applies to purely civil matters. The Supreme Court of Pakistan should have knowledge of laws prevailing in the countries of concern. In fact, this information could easily be derived from the website of Swiss Supreme Court. Why did officials of the Court not view the website before making the writing of letter a serious national issue?

Who would be held responsible for all the time, money and energy wasted in chasing this case over the past many years?

Has the corruption has permeated to Swiss authorities as well? If so, it might be a good idea to have Rehman Malik and Admiral Bukhari go to Switzerland to investigate with the NAB and other sleuths in tow. If they achieve nothing like our honourable courts, at least they can enjoy a nice holiday on the Alps!
