Anti-Muslim violence that has spread from Myanmar to Sri Lanka has taken on an ethnic cleansing tone, where in these countries, police and security personnel’s response to quell the unrest has been slow.

In Sri Lanka’s case, a country that has just recovered from its own version of communal/ethnic unrest, its government’s tolerance of a new wave of ethnic strife shows a country at war with itself.

This new attack on minority Muslims makes mockery of Sri Lanka’s demand for a war crimes tribunal in as far as the Tamil/Sinhalese conflict is concerned.
