Say no to extremists

Writers and artistes in India are opposed to the extremist fringe's attempts to stifle free speech. The country has a rich tradition of tolerance - how else do so many faiths and communities live together for centuries?
There is no single culture in India, but it is an amalgamation of different cultures, that is protected under the constitution which is clear about secularism.
The prime minister, by remaining silent, is empowering them. Far right groups are running amok, and the government is unwilling or scared to confront extremists in their midst.
