Since the new Rs500 note is not yet available in many places, including Mumbai, I urge the Indian government to extend the use of the old Rs500 and Rs1,000 notes at petrol pumps, chemists and hospitals till December 30, 2016 . Most outlets do not have adequate change for the new Rs2,000 note. Hence, it would be citizen-friendly to extend the usage of the old notes at gas stations, etc.
