He will have to preserve and protect vital economic and strategic interests of the Muslim world in the spirit of promoting international peace and harmony. The problems facing the ummah are complex and varied, requiring the collective endeavour of all Muslim countries through broad-based consultation, negotiation and dialogue. The new leader will have to deliberate on the threats of fragmentation faced by the ummah and come up with a viable strategy for damage reduction.

The new leader has to expedite the 10-year strategy plan initiated for Islamic renaissance and counter Islamophobia, address the question of Palestine and work against unilateral sanctions against Muslim countries. OIC member states have enormous resources, which can be used for their progress and prosperity, provided peace and stability prevails in these countries.
