Rafael Nadal rewrote history in golden letters at the Roland Garos Stadium on Sunday when he clinched his 7th French Open title.

The Spaniard surpassed Bjorn Borg’s titles at the French Open, thus becoming the first man ever to win seventh French Open. The final match between the tennis titans was filled with drama, fluctuating fortunes and scintillating. The ‘king of clay’ was trying to avenge his defeat at the past three Grand Slams and the ‘numero uno’ Djokovic leaving no stone unturned to become the first man ever since Rod Vavver in 1969 to hold all Grand Slam victories back to back over the Spaniard.

When the match stopped due to heavy weather conditions, fortune had turned in Serb’s favour. But when the play resumed, his resistance crumbled.
