Syria is being depopulated as a result of intense aerial attacks by Russia. It is imperative that President Putin be told that air power is no substitute for real diplomacy. All parties must realise that there is no substitute for durable peace.
One of the most brutal migration scenes are unfolding before our eyes, while we gasp with anger and sorrow. The Middle East is disintegrating at a pace that will have global consequences.
A culture of killing and violence has become embedded in human consciousness. The devastating consequences of wider war are either trivialised or simply not mentioned.
