Mahatma Gandhi will always be held in high esteem

This is with reference to the column, Mahatma who? Welcome to Oct 2 (KT, Oct 2). Indians hold Mahatma Gandhi, a follower of truth and non-violence, in high regard.
It may be true that the present generation may not know much about him and his immense contribution towards attaining freedom, as for them independence is seen as a natural outcome of colonisation, rather than a struggle. Millennials like to open up threadbare any issue of interest and debate based on facts, rather than on history.
A re-look at the history of independence and contributions of erstwhile heroes may prove effective. Nonetheless, Gandhi's ideas and policies remain relevant and popular in India and across the world.
