Let’s be real

I was quite taken aback on reading the article ‘The Razzle Dazzle’ (Wknd, Aug 17) as it revolved around ‘glamming’ and ‘dolling up’ for the occasion of Eid.

Wearing make-up so as to enhance your beauty defeats the very purpose of wearing a Hijab and covering yourself as it attracts undesired attention.

Eid, or any occasion for that matter, in no way requires women to have ‘glamorous eyes’ or ‘lips like sugar’. It’s high time we realise that there exists a fine line between looking presentable and putting on coats of make-up for the world to perceive us as attractive.

Women don’t need make-up for their inner beauty, the one that actually counts, to shine through.
