It is good to ensure people follow discipline, and the city looks neat and clean (You'll be fined for parking in closed sandy lots in UAE; KT, Oct 28). However, I feel authorities should also ensure that there are enough parking space available. In Sharjah, Al Nahda area there are no street lights which is very risky. A lot of areas in Sharjah are not clean. First, the infrastructure and other living requirements should be affordable to all people, then it is time to impose penalties if misused.

I think there is an immediate need of proper roads in front of every building. Most buildings are in sandy patches. I strongly feel the building landlords are not supposed to collect such rents when they don't provide ample parking spaces. Most buildings in Sharjah, around Tawon, Al Khan areas don't even have asphalt roads. Forget the pavements and proper parking, many of them are over 20 years old. What is building tax is paid for?
