Domestic violence robs woman of dignity
Domestic violence is just not a threat to gender equality, it robs the woman of the dignity she deserves.
A recent study by the United Nations Population Fund has found that six out of ten men in India have acted violently against their spouses at some point of time. I am sure it is happening elsewhere, too. Wife beating is deplorable and women continue to suffer in silence within the four walls of their home.
This grave sickness in the male psyche needs to be treated firmly and the truth needs to be ingrained that a woman deserves respect and is not a “commodity”.
