Cracks emerging in India’s opposition party

It is normal to have different opinions but the differences should remain within closed doors instead of being aired in public. The billboards in Delhi proclaim support to BJP leader L.K. Advani while the ones in Gujarat praise the prime ministerial candidate, Narendra Modi.

This sends out a clear message to the public: If there is so much dissent before the elections, who knows what will happen thereafter! In case the BJP emerges as the winner, to what extent will the differences affect cabinet appointments? Rank differences will reduce the BJP’s popularity and bring down the number of seats it expects to win.
