Don't let your mask down, the Covid-19 war is still on, and yet, one finds many oblivious of the pandemic threat that is looming like the Damocles sword. Their nonchalant attitude in not wearing the mask could land many others in danger though they feel that they are an exclusive kind that coronavirus infection might spare.
Despite the marathon safety efforts taken by the authorities in the UAE, leaving no stone unturned, it seems futile if people can't act responsibly. Social distancing and wearing of masks are safety rules that should not be flouted indiscriminately. And yet, many are acting indifferently.
A new sterilisation drive could be enforced if cases continue to rise at this pace. We the people need to be more responsible and adhere to safety rules and take precautions. People involved in delivery service should wear masks all the time. It is hot outside, but that should not be an excuse to remove masks. Employers should provide safety masks to all and take initiatives that keep the well-being of employees in mind. -Latha Narasimhan, Sharjah
