Benazir Bhutto assassination: A tragedy remembered
Every Pakistani remembers the fateful date of December 27, 2007, the day Pakistan lost its popular leader and twice-elected prime minister Benazir Bhutto.
The assassination took place in Rawalpindi where she was campaigning for the upcoming elections.
It was a day of turmoil. Angry protesters disrupted traffic and burnt tyres in the roads. There was widespread panic. On that night Karachi was shut down completely, with mobile networks jammed and shops and markets closed. Pakistan suffered a huge emotional loss as well as an economic loss.
