Arun Jaitley was a distinguished parliamentarian and a gentleman

India's former finance minister Arun Jaitley was one of the tallest leaders of the post-emergency era and the finest statesman the country has had. A lawyer by profession, Jaitley played an eminent role in the first term of the Narendra Modi government and handled key portfolios. He also often acted as a reliable chief troubleshooter.
Jaitley had a deep understanding of the national issues. He was a multi-talented leader, a distinguished parliamentarian, a gentleman, prominent legal luminary, a competent minister, who stood for value-based politics. What made Jaitley all the more special was the camaraderie he had with people across party lines. Jaitley's demise leaves the country numb, just days after the nation lost leaders like S Jaipal Reddy, Sheila Dikshit, and Sushma Swaraj. He will be fondly remembered for his four-decade long political career. RIP, Arun Jaitley.

Aurn Jaitley's untimely demise is a huge loss to his political party, legal community and the country. He was the brain behind managing difficult situations faced by the BJP. A great statesman and a strong proponent of the US-India relationship, he has been the voice of people and a crusader against corruption. The eminent parliamentarian will be remembered for his outstanding work.
