Schools shouldn't block access to e-learning

Name withheld on request
Filed on March 31, 2020

No parent would like to hold their child's fees purposely.

Our school has blocked access to academic results and e-leaning access due to delay in payment of fees. In these difficult times when the government is doing so much to help the residents, school administrations are being insensitive towards students.

No parent would like to hold their child's fees purposely. However, the current situation is bad, salaries in the UAE are being delayed, businesses are drastically down.

This is the time schools (and the government) needs to show compassion towards students.

Students are frustrated for not being able to see their results and sitting at home doing nothing, as school has blocked our e-learning access.

Students have complained to the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) also but they said school has the right to hold the result, if fees is not paid.

Parents need some time to pay the school fees, and should be given a grace period. Meanwhile, schools should release the academic results and un-block access to e-learning.

School administrations should access and understand that this crisis is temporary and things will normalise in a few months.

We sincerely hope that our government will come forward to support us and help students resume their learning. -Name withheld on request
