Parenthood gives a direction to life amid daily drudgery

The opinion piece by Richard Branson - Parenting is more rewarding than building a company (KT, Nov 20) made interesting observations regarding the pleasurable pain of parenting while comparing it with the building a company. Teething troubles and trial and error while doing both cannot be avoided however the satisfaction one gets as a parent or grandparent cannot be overlooked. Parenting comes with no reference material as each child is unique, presenting unexpected challenges at different stages of life. Working through different paths while performing parental functions makes the journey rewarding and worthwhile. Guiding the children, seeing them grow up as independent individuals is definitely rewarding and it nullifies the pain parents incur during the process. At times they become effective advisors when parents need them.
Building a successful company brings better financial status and a deep sense of empower-ment, however, parenting rewards provide a sense of inner fulfilment and give a great direction to life amid day-to-day drudgery.
