More countries should ban single-use plastic

A few golf clubs in Dubai have done well by announcing a ban on the use of single-use plastic bottles on their golf course (No more single-use plastic bottles at Dubai golf courses; KT, Jan. 18). Small steps such as these can make a huge difference to our local environment and planet. Plastic has become ubiquitous and poses environmental hazard. The lack of options to recycle this highly versatile raw material is thrown new challenges at us. I hope private and government offices also follow the lead and take steps to minimize the use of plastic. It's important to take corrective steps before it chokes the life out of our planet.
