Guru Nanak Darbar Gurudwara Dubai has marked Veer Bal Diwas with the second edition of the Veer Bal Diwas Bravery Awards, recognising young students for demonstrating courage, resilience, compassion, and a strong sense of community responsibility. The programme highlighted inspiring real-life stories that reflect positive values among children and adolescents.
The event was attended by Satish Kumar Sivan, consul general of India to Dubai and the Northern Emirates, as chief guest, along with distinguished guests including Goswami Sushil Ji Maharaj, National Convener of the Bharatiya Sarva Dharma Sansad. The programme began with a cultural presentation by children followed by the awards ceremony.
The awards saw participation from eight schools, with 23 students recognised for exemplary courage and resilience. Eight students received a one-year school fee scholarship, along with a medal and Certificate of Bravery, while the remaining students were presented with medals and certificates.
Speaking on the occasion, Surender Singh Kandhari, chairman of Guru Nanak Darbar Gurudwara Dubai, said: “Veer Bal Diwas is not only about remembering the past, but about instilling values in our children today. It reinforces that courage, empathy, and standing up for what is right can be demonstrated at any age.” The programme concluded with a community gathering that emphasised equality, inclusivity, and togetherness.
