Equipped with multilingual support and digital payment options, the new service aims to make travel in Moscow more accessible and convenient for international visitors
Travellers to Moscow can now obtain the Tourist Card at a newly opened banking Sber office in the city center, located on Bolshaya Dmitrovka Street. The office functions both as a Sber's bank office and a tourist information center. All specialists are fluent in foreign languages and are available to assist international visitors.
The Tourist Card is based on Russia’s Mir payment system and can be used at local merchants, for public transport, and at various attractions. There are no monthly maintenance fees. It enables visitors to make payments for services such as dining and transportation. The card addresses practical payment needs for travelers in Moscow. Additional information on payment methods in the capital is available on Discover Moscow.
Travelers have the option to order the card in advance and receive it by mail, either to their home country or hotel. However, having a physical card is not always necessary, as many locations in Moscow accept QR code payments via the YooMoney app. Android users can link the card to YooMoney Pay and use NFC for contactless payments, while iOS users can make payments by scanning QR codes within the app, a method commonly accepted throughout the country.
Travelers can register for a YooMoney profile and obtain a virtual Tourist Card before departing from their home country. The registration process requires only a phone number, and no Russian SIM card is necessary, making it accessible for international visitors. Upon arrival in Moscow, the card can be reloaded with cash at ATMs that support YooMoney, offering a simple method to add funds in local currency.
Evgeny Kozlov, chairman of the Moscow City Tourism Committee said: “The opening of the Sber travel and banking office on Bolshaya Dmitrovka Street marks a significant milestone in our commitment to making Moscow a truly accessible and welcoming destination for international travelers."
"This initiative, offering the Tourist Card, multilingual support, and integrated services, streamlines the travel experience and addresses key practical needs. It underscores our dedication to providing hassle-free payment options, comprehensive tourist information, and a culturally sensitive environment. By providing tourists with convenience and comfort we hope to reinforce Moscow's place as a premier global travel destination. We are confident this new place will significantly enhance the experience of our visitors," he added.
Travelers arriving in Moscow can now conveniently obtain the Tourist Card at several key locations, including Sheremetyevo Airport, YooMoney offices, and the Aerostar Hotel. A dedicated service center is also available in the city center on Bolshaya Dmitrovka Street, at the Sber travel and banking office. Visitors can open an account, complete currency exchanges, make transfers, and receive their Tourist Card - all with multilingual support in Russian, English, and Arabic.
To further enhance the travel experience, the office offers personalised itinerary planning and free informational booklets about Moscow, available in Russian, English, Chinese, and Arabic. The space also features a lounge area where guests can sample traditional Moscow delicacies and products from The Moscow Tea Shop. A children’s play zone, developed in collaboration with the iconic Soyuzmultfilm animation studio, ensures a family-friendly experience while adults plan their journey.
