In a landmark move reinforcing the power of collaboration for sustainability, TakaHisa, the award-winning Japanese fine dining restaurant, has entered an exclusive partnership with Hatta Honey, a premier brand owned and operated by the UAE royal family. The signing ceremony took place at a traditional Majlis, in the esteemed presence of Engr. Sheikh Salem Bin Sultan Al Qasimi.

This strategic alliance underscores TakaHisa’s long-term vision for sustainability in the UAE — its second home and signals a shift toward environmental responsibility through local sourcing. Known for importing top-tier ingredients such as Toyosu Market fish and premium Japanese wagyu, TakaHisa is now embracing locally produced Hatta honey as a key element in its culinary creations.

More than a sourcing agreement, the partnership reflects shared values, mutual respect, and a joint commitment to ecological stewardship. As part of the initiative, TakaHisa has donated 21 beehive boxes symbolising its founding year, 2021—to the Hatta Honeybee Garden and Discovery Centre. Additionally, 100 trees will be planted to promote pollination and ecological balance. The collaboration is expected to produce around 875 kilograms of honey annually, which will be used exclusively in TakaHisa’s seasonal menus and desserts.

"Fine dining can be a powerful force for social and environmental good,” the TakaHisa team stated. "By integrating locally sourced honey into our offerings, we aim to foster a more sustainable food ecosystem and forge deeper connections with the UAE community."

Chefs Takashi Namekata (Chef Taka) and Hisao Ueda (Chef Hisa), the culinary minds behind TakaHisa, expressed their heartfelt gratitude: “We are truly thankful to the UAE for nurturing our growth and providing endless opportunities. Through this meaningful partnership, we hope to contribute to the country’s sustainable development and give back to the community that welcomed us."

This initiative stands as a compelling example of how sustainability and gastronomy can go hand in hand. For TakaHisa, giving back is not an obligation — it’s a value deeply rooted in the brand’s ethos.

Located at Banyan Tree Dubai on Bluewaters Island, TakaHisa is celebrated for its authentic Japanese cuisine, blending traditional techniques with modern artistry. Recognised by the Michelin Guide 2024, awarded three Toques by Gault&Millau, and ranked No. 41 in MENA’s 50 Best Restaurants, TakaHisa continues to redefine culinary excellence in the UAE.
