Aisha Hossain, founder and CEO, receives international recognition during the event

SELHAYA, the world’s first British luxury abaya Maison founded by award-winning designer Aisha Hossain, showcased its limited-edition silk capsule this week at the Modest Fashion & Art Trade Show in Istanbul. The showcase took place under the auspices of the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye, alongside the 10th OIC Halal Expo and the 12th World Halal Summit — one of the most influential international gatherings shaping the global halal economy.
During the summit, Aisha Hossain was honoured with an official award from Halal Expo 2025, recognising SELHAYA’s contribution to sustainable modest luxury and UAE-crafted cultural couture.
SELHAYA presented six pure-silk abayas inspired by the resilience of women. The capsule was originally unveiled in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, during “Wayakoum”, the Breast Cancer Awareness initiative held this October under the patronage of Sheikha Dr Shamma bint Mohammed bin Khalid Al Nahyan. As part of its philanthropic mission, SELHAYA gifted bespoke abayas to some cancer fighters this year — each valued at Dh10,000 — reflecting the Maison’s commitment to compassion, community upliftment, and women’s wellbeing.
“A capsule created to honour women — their strength, and the quiet beauty they carry through every season of life,” said Aisha Hossain, founder and creative director of SELHAYA.
Founded in London and spiritually inspired during Fajr at the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi, SELHAYA bridges British design nuance with the cultural refinement of the Emirates. “It is an honour to elevate UAE craftsmanship on international platforms,” Aisha shared.
“SELHAYA stands between London and Abu Dhabi — merging design, heritage, and modest luxury for women everywhere,” she said.

During the World Halal Summit, Aisha spoke on a high-level panel on fashion diplomacy, exploring how modest fashion communicates cultural identity more powerfully than speeches or trade agreements, how design serves as a universal language of connection, and how women-led houses can remain true to their origins while appealing to global markets.
From London to Abu Dhabi, from Jakarta to Istanbul and beyond — SELHAYA rises as a cultural house shaped by elegance, resilience, and purpose.
