Škoda UAE, represented by Ali & Sons Motors, has announced a safety recall involving TAKATA front airbag components affecting a limited number of vehicles in the United Arab Emirates.

The recall is being conducted in coordination with the UAE Ministry of Economy and the Department of Consumer Protection, underscoring Škoda’s commitment to customer safety and transparency.

According to the manufacturer, vehicles equipped with TAKATA front airbags produced during a limited manufacturing period may experience deterioration of the airbag inflator propellant over time, particularly due to prolonged exposure to high humidity and temperature fluctuations.

In rare cases, this deterioration may cause fragments to detach from the inflator housing during airbag deployment in the event of an accident, potentially posing a risk of injury to vehicle occupants. As a precautionary safety measure, the driver-side front airbag in affected vehicles will be inspected and replaced where required.

The recall affects a total of 980 vehicles in the UAE, manufactured in the Czech Republic, across the following Škoda models and production years:

  • Fabia – 2014 and 2015

  • Yeti – 2015 and 2016

  • Rapid – 2016

  • Octavia – 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017

  • Superb – 2014, 2016 and 2017

  • Kodiaq – 2017 and 2018

The recall is registered under the following Ministry of Economy reference numbers:
MOE-CPCC-CPR-0000012-20260212
MOE-CPCC-CPR-0000013-20260212
MOE-CPCC-CPR-0000014-20260212

MOE-CPCC-CPR-0000016-20260212

Škoda UAE and Ali & Sons Motors said they are working closely with the relevant authorities to ensure the recall process is carried out efficiently and transparently.

Owners of potentially affected vehicles will be contacted directly and advised to book an inspection appointment at authorised Škoda service centres. All inspections and any necessary replacement of the driver-side front airbag will be carried out free of charge.

Customers are also encouraged to check whether their vehicle is affected and arrange an inspection appointment at the earliest convenience.

Škoda Auto said it continues to uphold global standards of safety and quality and remains committed to proactively addressing safety matters and maintaining customer trust across its markets.
