King’s College Hospital Dubai welcomed its first newborn babies of 2026 in the early hours of New Year’s Day, as two families celebrated the arrival of their babies while the rest of the city marked the New Year with festivities.

The hospital said in a statement that its maternity ward remained fully operational throughout the holiday period, with medical teams on duty round the clock to ensure continuous care and support for expectant mothers. Obstetricians, midwives, nurses, and neonatal staff worked seamlessly through the night, delivering the high standard of care for which the hospital is known.

"New Year’s Eve is one of the busiest nights across the city, but for us, it’s service as usual," said Farzana Iqbal, Obstetrics and Gynecology Midwife manager at King’s College Hospital Dubai. "Babies don’t wait for celebrations to end, and families rely on us to be here when it matters. We take pride in being part of these special moments every day of the year," she added.

The two babies were the first to be born at the hospital in 2026, symbolising new beginnings not only for their families but also for the dedicated team at King’s. As the city’s skyline lit up to welcome the new year, the maternity team continued their work — calm, focused, and committed to putting patients first.
