Contemporary South African artist Joseph Klibansky left his footprint in Dubai recently with an overnight a 3.2-metre bronze sculpture set in front of The Galliard, a popular restaurant in Downtown Dubai.
On December 31, Dubai woke up to find a beautiful sculpture, called Birthday Suit, in front on the largest building of the world, the Burj Khalifa. After an eight-hour overnight installation and a crew of 30 men, the piece was installed at the terras of The Galliard, the main restaurant of the Address Hotel in Downtown Dubai, just in time for the emirate's incredible New Year's Eve party that welcomed 2021.
Visitors were surprised by the polished bronze monkey, which donned party hat and flute.
Birthday Suit symbolises the celebration of life and love in its purest form. The large bronze monkey is also holding a bunch of beautiful roses as an "icon of optimism" towards the future.
The Galliard's General Manager Mert Turkmen said "The Galliard has always been a place of firsts. We are very happy to start 2021 with this wonderful and famous sculpture."
