Ajman University (AU) has been awarded yet another international accreditation, adding to its growing list of accreditations and global rankings. Ajman University College of Mass Communication’s Bachelor of Art degree programme — with specialisations in radio and television; public relations and advertising and graphic design — has received the Agency for Quality Assurance through Accreditation of Study Programs (AQAS) accreditation after a rigorous review process.

AU is now part of an elite network of 6,600 institutions around the world with a programme holding this coveted accreditation.

AQAS is a non-profit organisation dedicated to the accreditation of higher education institutions in Germany and is listed in the European Register for Higher Education. It is a certified member of the European University Association, the European Consortium for Accreditation, the European Network for Quality Assurance, and the International Network for Quality Assurance Agencies in Higher Education.

The review process for the AQAS accreditation was conducted entirely online, which created unique challenges. However, the diligent efforts of the staff and faculty at Ajman University College of Mass Communications, and of the wider AU community, ensured that all the intensive criteria to qualify for the accreditation were met and exceeded.

Impressed by the commitment of AU stakeholders, the head of the visiting team from AQAS remarked: “Positive cooperation that was not only highly professional but also a very pleasant personal experience.”

Commenting on this feat, Dr Karim Seghir, chancellor of Ajman University, said: “This achievement has been possible due to the tireless efforts of our faculty and staff, each of whom strived hard to set the highest standards of professional and academic excellence. We hope to keep replicating this success across other colleges and programs in the days to come.”

Founded in 1988 as one of the first private institutions of higher education in the UAE and the Gulf region, AU is now being recognised as an emerging leader on the global academic map. The 2021 QS World University Rankings lists AU among the top 750 universities worldwide. The latest “Top 50 Under 50” QS Rankings named AU as one of the top 150 young universities in the world.
