KT fans thrilled with CT Movie Nights

The banners were up, the cameras and popcorn ready; the stage was set. The only thing left was for the clock to strike 8.
The long-awaited and much-loved Movie Nights with City Times was relaunched last Thursday. Even though we say so ourselves, it was better than ever and we love it as much as you do! Loyal KT fans who had taken part in our social media contest and won tickets were treated to a special screening of Sui Daaga: Made in India starring the gorgeous Anushka Sharma and, may we say, the handsome Varun Dhawan.
The crowd that gathered at the event was a flurry of excitement. Whether they were families with their little ones, couples enjoying a movie night or friends out for a good time, nobody was exempt from the anticipation in the air. We were, everything said and done, all there for a good watch.
To say that movie goers were delighted for the revamped #CityTimesTakesYouToTheMovies would be an understatement. Naureen Zulfiquar, a 24-year-old architect, might not have experienced the previous movie nights but seemed excited about it nevertheless. "I'm here to support the movie nights," she told City Times. "Go Khaleej Times! I think it's pretty cool I'm getting to watch an early screening of the movie."
Hotelier Manish Chandra, accompanied by his wife Ekta, said, "I feel privileged to be among the first to enjoy movie nights with CT. Movies are always exciting, especially when you are actually invited!"
One of our winners through social media, Sadaf Iftikhar, couldn't believe that she had won tickets courtesy of the newspaper. "I was so happy when I won. I was so surprised, when I got the call, I asked 'Really?! Are you sure it's me?'"
Sponsored by Thumbay Hospital Dubai, Regal Stitch and Concept Big Brands, the event began with a fun and interactive session where RJ Aaryan kept audiences captivated by playing games, giving out prizes and cracking everyone up with hilarious jokes.
Speaking of jokes, one of the highlights of the night was when Mr. Prince, an ardent supporter of Khaleej Times who's been in Dubai for 39 years, stood up to share an anecdote. Explaining why he was such a hardcore fan of the newspaper, he mentioned how he and his wife have forever been fighting over the newspaper! "All credit goes to my wife. She's been religiously supporting KT."
As the laughter subsided, people were encouraged to stock up on the complimentary popcorn and soda and asked to settle down. It was show time. As the actors took us through a saga of tears, hardships and ambition, the audience was in for a heartfelt journey.
Sixteen-year-old Shweta walked out feeling entertained and said she enjoyed herself. "The movie was okay, it had unexpected pockets of humour. I thought Anushka and Varun acted really well and overall I enjoyed it." 
Kanchan Punjabi, a loyal Khaleej Times reader who works in the private sector said, "I was aware of Movie Nights with CT and was upset when that was stopped. But now I'm really excited it's been relaunched and love that I was among the first to be a part of #CityTimesTakesYouToTheMovies. I loved the experience."
Almost unanimously every one spoken to said they would without doubt take part in future contests and were counting down days for the next Movie Nights with City Times.
