UAE jobs: Tech-savvy doctors, skilled specialists in high demand

Nurses with expertise in oncology, cardiology, pediatrics, mental health, and critical care are especially sought after

The demand for specialised healthcare professionals in the UAE is growing, fueled by advancements in medical technology, rise in the need for specialised care, and the country’s ambition to become a healthcare hub.

According to Alpen Capital’s latest GCC Healthcare Industry report, healthcare spending in the region is projected to reach $159 billion by 2029, with an annual growth rate of 7.8 percent. The UAE, with its expanding population and healthcare infrastructure, is at the forefront of this trend.

Dr Mujtaba Ali Khan, CEO of Burjeel Medical City and chief clinical innovation officer at Burjeel Holdings, shared insights into the positions most in demand. “Nurses with expertise in oncology, cardiology, pediatrics, mental health, and critical care are especially sought after. Similarly, doctors specialising in cardiology, oncology, and critical care are in great demand due to the high prevalence of chronic diseases and the UAE’s commitment to providing world-class healthcare services,” said Dr Khan.

In addition to medical practitioners, the rise of digital health technologies has created a growing need for healthcare IT, informatics, and AI professionals. As telemedicine, digital health systems, and data security become more integrated into healthcare delivery, skilled professionals in these fields are essential.

Olivier Tricou, managing director at Alpen Capital, shared his insights into the evolving healthcare workforce in the UAE. “In the next five years, we expect the healthcare workforce to become more tech-driven. The widespread use of AI, automation, and telemedicine will require professionals to be proficient in digital health solutions,” said Tricou.

Tech-savvy doctors preferred

Experts have said that medical professionals who embrace technology will have a significant advantage in delivering efficient, high-quality care. “By utilising advanced diagnostic tools and AI-driven treatment plans, healthcare professionals can improve patient outcomes,” said Dr Khan.

“Additionally, streamlining administrative processes through electronic health records and automated systems can enhance operational efficiency. Staying updated with the latest research and training ensures that medical professionals remain at the forefront of medical advancements,” added Dr Khan.

Dr Raza Siddiqui, CEO of Arabian Healthcare Group and executive director of RAK Hospital, highlighted why the UAE is an attractive destination for medical professionals. “The UAE offers a great quality of life and has positioned itself globally as a leader in healthcare. Doctors from the UK, for example, are increasingly drawn to the UAE because of the lifestyle it offers its residents,” said Dr Siddiqui.
