Dress to Impress

If Aishwarya Ajit looks familiar, it’s probably because you’ve seen her present the show Studio One on Dubai TV, on which she talks about everything from fashion, entertainment and food to parenting, relationship advice and beauty.

She also has her own channel on YouTube where she makes videos about all things beauty, and vlogs about how to look good without having to run to the salon every time.

Aishwarya has been in Dubai since age four, and having grown up watching Dubai One (earlier known as Channel 33), it was her dream to anchor a show on it, which came true in 2009, when she moved back to Dubai from India, after completing her education, and a brief 
stint in television in Kerala. Often compared to the famous Aishwarya Rai — she bears a striking resemblance to her namesake — this beauty 
has a very distinct style of her own, and believes that life is too short to spend it looking plain.

She describes her style as feminine, even though she loves adding studs and spikes to her outfits by way of her shoes or jewellery. Obsessed with accessories, her collection can give any lover of bling serious envy. As if her statement necklaces, rings and earrings weren’t enough, her shoe rack is pretty enviable too.

She doesn’t like to take risks when it comes to fashion, and likes to keep it fuss-free, only adding jewellery or statement shoes. Though she isn’t particularly fond of brogues, and says “If I wanted to wear masculine footwear, I’d just wear my dad’s.” A trend that she has started to follow is that of over-sized/padded shoulders, and is guilty of adding the detachable ones to many of her tops and dresses.

Her current style crush is reality TV star Kim Kardashian, whose recent style evolution has inspired her, and another in Bollywood actress Sonam Kapoor, whose wardrobe she envies. A self-confessed shopaholic, Aishwarya likes to mix up her designer pieces with her high-street ones, and loves shopping online, especially at Asos.com. “I prefer to shop online, since I know just what is going on fashion-wise in the various fashion capitals of the world, just by browsing!”
