A woman in Brazil shuddered with fright after she discovered a 7-foot-long snake in her washing machine. The woman's daughter notified her of a weird noise coming from the washing machine and opened the lid to find a huge boa constrictor wrapped around the bottom of the drum.
According to Cater News reports quoted in Inside Edition, Shirley Oliveira, 46, mother of two from Salvador in Brazil, said that her daughter Amanda, 18, informed her about the noise and asked her to check the appliance. "When I opened the lid, I got the fright of my life because there was a snake inside with its head poking out," Oliveria was quoted saying.
Oliveira immediately called the authorities but was informed that they could come only the following day. Fearing that the snake might be poisonous, she called for her neighbour's friend who helped her get rid of the reptile.
Joao Paulo Ribeiro who owns a snake himself, knew the tan boa constrictor was not deadly. He slowly caught the snake with his bare hands and pulled it out of the washing machine. The incident was captured on video which shows Ribeiro trying hard to lift out the 7-foot long snake which weighed around 17-pounds.
"It was wrapped tight around the drum and was hard to lift out. It took me over 20 minutes to remove it and it was a struggle right until the end." Ribeiro said. The male snake was then released into the wild.
"I'm grateful everything worked out well in the end for us and the animal, which was probably just as frightened as we were," Oliveria said.
