A circus performance turned terrifying after a lion mauled its ringmaster during a performance in Ukraine. Egyptian trainer Hamada Kouta, 32, was in the middle of an act when one of the lions pounced on him, pinning him to the ground. This left both children and adults sitting in the audience screaming in shock.
Fortunately, Kouta was able push the lion off and get to his feet which prompted the animal to move away and retreat into its cage. Kouta sustained serious injuries after the lion sank its teeth and clawed him. In a terrfying footage captured by spectators shows the lion pouncing on Kouta and overpowering him, pushing him down to the ground. The incident happened during Lugansk State Circus, Fox News quoted Sputnik News reports.
Kouta, who is back in the ring after the lion attack, said, "I called up one lion and the second one attacked me from the front. The lion jumped at me and bit me - but thank God, not on my neck. He immediately let me go. My back, arm and leg were hurt. Scars from two claws and one tooth are on my leg, tooth marks on my arm, one 4 centimeters (1.5 inches) deep from three claws on my back," reported Abc7chicago.com.
