Nadezhda claimed that the child was stillborn.

A mother is being investigated for murder after her newborn baby died after being put in a spinning washing machine.

According to the Mirror UK, Nadezhda Z, 31, gave birth to the baby prematurely over the weekend in Sverdlovsk, Russia.

Police have confirmed that the baby was put in a spinning washing machine shortly after birth, moments before her husband, Dennis, found her covered in blood and called for an ambulance.

Nadezhda claimed that the child was stillborn, and was treated for injuries.

This was her fourth child. She has a son from a previous marriage and two daughters by her current husband.

Her friends, who described her as a 'good mother', were shocked to learn of the gruesome allegations against the hairdresser.

"Nadezhda is a hardworking and caring mother," said Elena Firtseva, a friend of the accused.

"There was no reason to kill the baby, and in such a cruel way."
