In a bizarre operation, police officials at an airport in Rome blew up a suitcase suspecting a bomb but found coconuts instead. Moreover, the high-risk operation was performed right inside the airport concourse with travellers standing only 10 metres away.

According to the details of the incident in India Today, the suitcase was apparently confiscated by the airport officials suspecting it consisted a bomb. A freelance journalist, Ned Donovan, who was inside the airport, narrated the incident on his Twitter account and wrote: 'They blew up what they thought was a bomb in the middle of the airport while people were about 10 meters away, and then when it was destroyed the police just wandered off and left it to be cleaned up'.
The incident went viral on social media with Twitter users having a hearty laugh taking a dig at the entire incident. One Twitter user wrote: 'Please do not leave your coconuts unattended in the airport', while another user wrote: 'What if it's really a bomb?'
