A Mesa Airlines pilot, Matthew Hosher, could feel the helplessness of passengers aboard a flight leaving from Tulsa, Oklahoma, who were stuck inside the aircraft after it was delayed by two-and-a-half hours. And as a gesture of empathy, he ordered a sandwich for each of them, the New York Post reported.
His good deed was tweeted by Sam Walker, a passenger on the flight - which has since gone viral.
"We're currently 2.5 hours into a delay leaving Tulsa on United and our Captain, Matthew, just ordered every single person on the plane lunch from Fat Guys Burger Bar," he wrote. "Good people and customer service do still exist!"
Mesa Airlines is based out of Arizona and operates as a part of United Express. A spokesperson for United called the act of kindness "awesome".
Fox 23 revealed that it was the largest order the local burger chain had received. In all, Hoshor bought 70 hamburgers from the restaurant to feed the hungry passengers.
CEO of Mesa Airlines Jonathan Ornstein was quoted by Huston Chronicle as saying: "He went out of his way like that to take care of the passengers. It really was outstanding customer service, way above and beyond."
"It makes me so proud as CEO of a company," he continued. "To see an employee do that, it just makes me feel great."
