A Samsung mobile phone exploded in a man's hand causing severe burns to his skin.
According to a report in the Metro, 40-year-old Jacob Cohen said that the phone burst into flames in his hand and that the back of the device also blew off.
The incident happened when Cohen tried to manually reset his frozen Samsung Galaxy S6, after which the phone turned very hot and started to glow orange. It caught fire even before he could put it down which got his hand burnt.
He doused the flames by placing the phone under the tap of running water. The incident completely damaged the phone which was replaced by Samsung on the very day and the company is in the process of carrying out an investigation into the incident.
He had bought the phone from eBay during Christmas time.
Jacob Cohen also said that he was thankful for the fact that there was no damage caused to house.
A spokeswoman from Samsung said that the company pays serious attention to all of the queries from the customers and also takes their safety very seriously.
"There are no known issues with Galaxy S6 devices. Our customer service team has been in contact with the customer regarding this matter and a thorough investigation is being conducted," she added.
In another incident in December last year, a 15-year-old Russian martial arts champion was electrocuted in her bath after her mobile phone fell in the water while she was charging it. Irina Rybnikova was found dead at her home in the Siberian industrial city of Bratsk.
The teenager was a champion fighter in pankration which is a form of "no rules" boxing and wrestling originating in ancient Greece. She had won the all-Russian championship two months ago and had been selected for her country's national team, reported Mirror.uk.
