Basketball players representing the Philippines and Australia got into a huge brawl earlier this week while playing a World Cup qualifying match.
According to news.com.au, the free-for-all occurred at the Philippine Arena during the last four minutes of the third quarter. Australia was ahead of the home team, Philippines at 79-48.
In a video of the match which has gone viral online, the brawl erupted when Australian player Chris Goulding was fouled and shoved to the floor. His teammate, Daniel Kickert, reacted immediately and elbowed a Philippine player. Within moments later rest of the players of the Philippines team came to the aid of their team-mate and a scuffle ensued where objects were also thrown around the court.
After the melee, 13 players were ejected from the match - nine from the Philippines and four from Australia.

Both teams have since issued a joint apology for the commotion. According to the Philippine Star, Philippines basketball federation president, Alfredo Panlilio, and Ned Coten, president of Basketball Australia, said in a statement that the "actions displayed have no place on any basketball court".
Meanwhile, the governing body of the basketball league, FIBA has yet to announce any sanctions for both teams.
