Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) warned Filipinos, looking to apply for work abroad, against bogus job applications posted online.
Revealing that not all overseas job offers posted on social media are legitimate, an official of the POEA on Tuesday asked applicants to do a thorough check before applying to offers listed on social media platforms, reported GMA News.
POEA administrator, Bernard Olalia, said in an interview with Super Radyo dzBB that job applicants should check their official website if interested in working abroad. He also advised those applying for the first time for  an overseas job and said that firstly applicants should check whether their employment skills match a particular job offer.
He pointed out that to secure a foreign job offer applicants should equip themselves with the laws and culture of the country they intend to work in. However, most importantly Olalia said that applicants should check through POEA's official website whether a job offer is legitimate as it reveals the accredited agencies.
He added that applicants should get in touch with authorised representatives of agencies in their main offices so as to avoid being duped through fraud job offers.
