Earlier this week, the Philippines crowned its newest beauty queen who will represent the country in the prestigious Ms. Universe pageant.
According to GMA News, 23-year-old Gazini Ganados was crowned the new Miss Universe - Philippines during the Binibining Pilipinas 2019 Grand Coronation Night on Sunday. Gazini, who hails from Talisay, Cebu, was crowned by her predecessor Catriona Gray.
She has previously joined Miss World Philippines in 2014 and finished as a semifinalist. Besides winning the crown, her parentage has also been the subject of local reports in the country. Many are claiming that Ganados has Arab roots.

According to the Philippine Star, Ganados was born to a Filipina mother and a Palestinian man. When interviewed by a local newspaper, she said that she doesn't know if her father is still alive.
"I don't know if he is still alive. I'm hoping for the best. He's a Palestinian. I just wanna go there and try to look for him," Manila Bulletin quoted her as saying.
"I have heard a lot of good stories about Palestine. They have good food. Who knows? I would bump into him."

If she would ever meet her father, she said: "I would give him a hug. I would thank him for the genes because without him, I wouldn't be here... I'd be joyful. That would be the happiest day of my life."
Ganados grew up with her mother and her grandparents in Talisay.
