A runaway couple's daring elope plan was foiled after the bike they were riding on plunged in a drain. The couple from Pakistan's Rawalpindi eloped on early Saturday morning when the man, named Asif Ali, lost control over his speeding bike which swerved and fell into a drain.
According to The Express Tribune, both man and woman, aged 20, were rescued by residents and taken to hospital for treatment, police said. The woman's father, Azhar Mehmood, discovered his daughter was missing when the family woke up for Sehri and a police complaint was filed.
Later, the family was informed that their daughter was spotted on a bike with a man and that both had fallen down in a drain. The couple's cries for help caught residents' attention who called for an ambulance.
The woman's father has alleged that his daughter was kidnapped by Ali on pretext of marriage.
