A Ukrainian tourist in Cyprus scaled airport security fence to join his family on a flight to the Polish city of Kraskow on Wednesday. The man missed the final boarding call at Paphos airport in Cyprus while his wife and two children boarded the Ryanair flight. However, his desperate attempt to board the flight was in vain as he was arrested for breaching airport security and his family flew out to Poland without him.
According to a NDTV report, the 46-year-old tourist dropped off his wife and children at departures and proceeded to return their rental car, police said. However, he got lost and could not find the way back. When he finally reached the boarding gate, he found it had closed and his family had boarded the plane to Krakow without him. That's when the man slipped out of the terminal and headed towards the plane, which was still taxiing on the apron. Cyprus police arrested him after he scaled the fence and entered the secure area.
The man was detained for questioning and officials said the incident caused short delays to two flights as security checks were carried.
