Man clings to windshield wiper for free tram ride

A man hitched a free tram ride by clinging to the windshield wipers at the rear of the vehicle in Rochdale, England. A video of the man's exploits - recorded by a traveller Howard Keast on his smartphone - has gone viral on the internet, UPI reported.
The footage shows the man risking his safety by grabbing on to the tram's windscreen wipers and putting his feet on the vents while the carriage picks up speed, reported Daily Mail.
It's not known how long the man took the free ride outside the tram. The clip captures the man's dangerous act till he is out of sight.
Of late, there have been a growing number of 'tram surfing' videos in which men, most teenagers, can be seen taking the perilous ride on the back of the vehicles.
In Manchester in July, there was an outcry against teenagers for endangering lives by 'tram surfing' on a busy city centre route. Passengers were taken aback when youths hurled sweets at the tram as one rode on the back of the Metrolink service near Victoria station in Manchester.
Reacting to the incident, Transport for Greater Manchester's head of Metrolink, Danny Vaughan, had then said: "Most people, including those who share videos of their exploits and those who watch them, won't need telling that such behaviour is extremely dangerous and puts lives at risk.'
