In a spectacular display of audacity, 58 Indian Army personnel set a new world record by riding a single motorcycle at the Indian Air Force base in Bengaluru, India, according to army sources quoted in NDTV.
Army Service Corps (ASC), who are popularly known as the 'Tornadoes' for their daredevil stunts, rode a 500cc Royal Enfield motorcycle for 1,200 mts at the Yelahanka Air Force Station in Bengaluru. The stunt was performed for the Guinness Book of World Records, Limca Book of Records and Unique World Records, a Defence Ministry statement said.
Dressed in Tricolour, the team of ASC was led by Major Bunny Sharma on the vanguard while the bike was steered by Subedar Rampal Yadav as other corps surrounded them on the flanks attached to the motor-bike.
The team has performed at the 9th Asian Games in 1982 in Delhi, and since then have showcased their stunts at over 1,000 shows across the world. The statement added that the ASC team holds 19 world and national records, including one by 56 men riding a motorbike in 2010.
